Back to Work: A Fresh Start

It's back-to-work season! Returning to the office and spending more time in front of screens often means settling back into the professional routine. However, this period can also lead to eye strain if proper precautions aren’t taken. Whether you're a seasoned remote worker or heading back to your usual office, it's crucial to adopt healthy habits to protect your eyes.

Adjust Your Screen Brightness

One of the first steps to prevent eye strain is adjusting your screen brightness. Excessive brightness can cause discomfort and eye pain. Try to set your screen brightness to match your surroundings. If possible, activate blue light filters, which are available on most modern devices, to reduce the harmful effects of blue light on your eyes.

Take Regular Breaks

Following the 20-20-20 rule is recommended to ease eye tension. This means that every 20 minutes, you should take a 20-second break and focus on something 20 feet away (about 6 meters). These short breaks allow your eyes to rest and rehydrate, reducing fatigue and discomfort.

Protect Your Eyes

In addition to technical adjustments and breaks, consider using tools like blue light blocking glasses. These glasses are designed to filter out harmful rays emitted by screens and can significantly improve eye comfort. Lastly, don't forget to blink frequently to avoid dry eyes, a common side effect of prolonged screen time.
